The HF bands for longer distance like to the USA. My Dad was telling me about the different bands. The club members in those tents over there are working the 20 and 80 metre bands. Let’s go and check them out. Each of those tents contains a radio station. Each station is working a different BAND. Hey, I thought you weren’t a Radio Ham. Did he say India, Charlie, Mike??? Yes - that means the letters I, C and M . Using words can be clearer to understand than letters which can be misheard. Golf 4 India Charlie Mike is G4ICM, which is our club call sign. Some people have a lot of fun with their call signs. My friend’s call sign is M5TFC . We call him Mike 5 The Funky Chicken . But for official identification we all use a standard internationally agreed Phonetic Alphabet . “CQ Field day, CQ Field Day, from Golf 4 India Charlie Mike” That’s right! “Golf 4 India Charlie Mike calling CQ and standing by for any call”
