Contest Committee Vacancies
As part of the implementation of the recommendations of the President’s Review of
Contesting the Board has agreed to split the Contest Committee into three Committees
with effect from 1 January 2016. This develops the concept put forward in the Review of
having spectrum representatives within the committee, and will improve accountability and
communications
The three committees will be known as the VHF Contest Committee (VHFCC), the HF
Contest Committee (HFCC) and the Contest Support Committee (CSC).
Following the restructure of the RSGB Contest Committee, the Board seeks applications
for the posts of HFCC Chair, VHFCC Chair and CSC Chair. Applicants must be experienced
contesters with a commitment to jointly drive a successful RSGB contesting programme.
To provide both continuity and natural churn, initial appointments will range from one to
three years. Requests for further information, should be sent to the RSGB General Manager
by email to
graham.coomber@rsgb.org.ukThe three new committees each have some vacancies for new members. These are in
the areas of policy (HFCC & VHFCC) as well as adjudication (CSC). Whilst applications from
experienced contesters are welcome, the new committees would also benefit from some
newcomers to contesting. If anyone wants an informal chat, the interim chairs are happy to
respond via
hfcc.chair@rsgbcc.org,
vhfcc.chair@rsgbcc.orgor
csc.chair@rsgbcc.orgIn all cases, applications (together with a brief statement of experience relevant to the
position applied for) should be sent to the RSGB General Manager. The closing date for the
Chair positions is 8 February. The closing date for committee member positions is 8 March.
The Board would like to thank those who worked hard, often over many years in the old
structure, and wish those who will be tasked with making the new structure work, every
success.
Sara McGarvey, 2I0SSW has been appointed by the RSGB Board to take on the role
of leader to take 3 or 4 young Members to Austria as part of the IARU Region 1 YOTA
programme at the end of July 2016. Sarah is 27 years of age, has experience of taking
groups of youngsters overseas and is DRM84 (Northern Ireland).

The Propagation Studies Committee has
begun work on a new web HF Propagation
Prediction service. It will feature both area
coverage predictions as well as point-to-point
(P2P) on demand predictions. Presently, only
area coverage has been completed and this
can be seen on URL
www.predtest.ukThis will
soon be followed by the P2P predictions. It is
planned that following these trials the RSGB
website will host the predictions. Comments
