the band is otherwise ‘flat’, with over the

horizon ranges up to 500km quite possible.

Add aircraft scatter enhancement up to

800km and you have a band that’s always

got some interesting DX possibilities.

Give it a go

So how about stepping up and giving

1296MHz a go? I’ve only covered the

basics of getting on for narrowband and DX

working, but there’s digital and analogue ATV

to consider, FM, repeaters and data modes as

well. Once you’ve experienced 1296, you’ll

be thinking about going higher in frequency,

or doing EME seriously… or both!

The President, Board Directors and Regional Manager posts are all subject to election by the Membership. The President serves

a two-year term and the Directors and Regional Managers serve for three years. Terms of office commence at the AGM and there

are several vacancies that will become available at the 2016 AGM.

Our President, John Gould, G3WKL will retire from the Board. Candidates for the role of President will require the supporting

signatures of 25 RSGB Corporate Members.Elected Directors Graham Murchie, G4FSG and Len Paget, GM0OMX both finish

their 3 year term. Len, GM0OMX is willing to be nominated for a second term but nominations are now sought from all RSGB

Members for these posts.

There are several Regional Manager positions available from April 2016 for Regions 1: Scotland South and Western Isles, 2:

Scotland North and the Northern Isles, Region 3: North West England, Region 4: North East England, Region 6: North Wales,

Region 7: South Wales, Region 8: Northern Ireland, Region 9: London (north) and Thames Valley and Region 13: East Midlands.

Marcus, MM0ZIF (Region 1), Denny, GM1BAN (Region 2), Kath, M1CNY (Region 3) and Philip MI0MSO (Region 8) are willing

to be nominated for election but applications are welcome from all RSGB Members living in the Regions with vacancies.

Nominations for Board Directors and Regional Managers require the supporting signatures of 10 RSGB Corporate Members (in

the case of Regional Managers the supporting signatures must reside in the Region).
