What’s going on

over there?

The HF bands

for longer

distance like to

the USA.

My Dad was telling me

about the different bands.

The club members in

those tents over there

are working the 20 and

80 metre bands. Let’s

go and check them out.

Each of those tents contains

a radio station. Each station

is working a different

BAND.

Hey, I thought you

weren’t a Radio Ham.

Did he say

India,

Charlie, Mike???

Yes - that means the letters

I, C

and

M

. Using words can be

clearer to understand than

letters which can be misheard.

Golf 4 India Charlie

Mike is G4ICM,

which is our club

call sign.

Some people have a lot of fun

with their call signs.

My friend’s call sign

is

M5TFC

. We call

him

Mike 5

The Funky Chicken

.

But for official identification

we all use a standard

internationally agreed

Phonetic Alphabet

.

“CQ Field day, CQ Field

Day, from Golf 4 India

Charlie Mike”

That’s

right!

“Golf 4 India Charlie Mike

calling CQ and standing

by for any call”
